Some good news for Jaguar, as the new XF saloon has won a design plaudit at the Autocar Awards 2007. This prestigious prize is part of the magazine''s annual tribute to outstanding achievements within the automotive industry and the people who work in it. Ian Callum, Jaguar''s design director, picked up the award commenting: "This is the first time Jaguar has won this award for a production car and I''m absolutely thrilled it has been given to the new XF. Fiat Revamps Croma

Fiat has given the Croma a makeover and relaunched it as the Nuova (New) Croma. The company describes the car as " even more dynamic thanks to a number of styling changes introduced by the Fiat Style Centre." The front of the Nuova Croma features original drop-shaped Bravo-style headlights, highlighted by a burnished finish and a new front air inlet and grille with wide links and a Chrome Shadow paint finish. Apple iPhone fever begins to grow

Apple''s iPhone goes on sale in the UK and Germany on Friday with thousands expected to snap up the device. The first European handsets were sold at the T-Mobile store in Cologne just after midnight. New research has discovered that a large number of expensive luxury cars are being registered as private hire vehicles in London. An investigation by www.cleangreencars.co.uk has discovered that amongst the list of cars you are not likely to see parked under the flashing yellow light of a minicab office are Aston Martins, Bentleys and even Rolls-Royce Phantoms. By paying an £82 application fee and £27 per year licence, owners can avoid paying the £8 per day Congestion Charge. Full Article

Cat joins exclusive genome club

A pedigree cat called Cinnamon has made scientific history by becoming the first feline to have its DNA decoded. The domestic cat now joins the select club of mammals whose genome has been deciphered - including dogs, chimps, rats, mice, cows and people. Mobile phone provider 3 has launched a new handset that will allow users to make free calls over the internet via telephony service Skype. Users will also be able to use Skype''''''''s instant messaging service, 3 said. Apple ready to set Leopard free

Leopard, the latest update of the Apple Mac operating system OS X, goes on sale on Friday. The release ends months of waiting for Mac fans, after Apple pushed back the launch to finish development on its much-hyped iPhone. Slasher movie tops US box office

Grizzly slasher film Saw IV has topped the US and Canada box office with takings of $32.1m (£15.6m). The newest film in the torture-horror franchise beat family comedy Dan in Real Life, starring Steve Carrell, into a distant second place. Red Sox claim World Series glory

Boston Red Sox have won the World Series, beating Colorado Rockies 4-3 in the fourth game for a sweep in the best-of-seven series. It is the second World Series win in four seasons for the Red Sox after they beat St Louis in 2004. Before that they had to wait 86 years for a win. Veteran third baseman Mike Lowell hit a solo home run and scored twice for the Sox before becoming a free agent. Full Article

space up! At Tokyo

Following the up! concept shown last month at Frankfurt, Volkswagen has revealed the longer wheelbase space up! at the Tokyo Motor Show. The interior features four individual seats, three of which can either be folded or removed completely to allow for up to 1,005 litres of luggage space. Access to the boot area in confined spaces is made easier through the adoption of a pair of side hinging rear doors intersected by a Volkswagen roundel. Full Article

Microsoft to carry out EU ruling

Microsoft has finally agreed to start complying with the European Commission's 2004 anti-monopoly ruling against it, regulators have confirmed. The commission said the US firm would now "comply with its obligations". The software giant had been accused of shutting out rivals from its Windows operating system to gain a larger share of the market for web servers.
